Windows 7 / 8 provides inbuilt driver support for number of devices, but many of the hardware devices requires special drivers to work smoothly and that’s the reason why your installed or attached hardware sometime doesn’t work properly, it’s often because of driver issue.

Actually drivers are program that allows operating system to properly communicate with the peripherals. Peripherals means the hardware connected to the system including your keyboard, mouse, and your screen, all these peripherals need a common language in order to work in sync with the other equipments.

Sometimes drivers can become outdated, and they may even start causing problem. So if you’ve buyed any new hardware or if your operating system has been updated, then at that time it is also very much important to update your drivers also.

If you have attached any new hardware to your system and observing that, it is not working properly then you can try the below mentioned things to sort out this issue:

  • Check that the hardware you have attached is well compatible with your system and with the version of windows or not. If it is not compatible then find the correct driver. Also check the information that came with your device, you can also search it on Windows Compatibility Center website. As this website contains comprehensive list of computers and devices that works great with Windows 7.
  • Many devices need special drivers to work smoothly. So make sure that you have installed any software discs that came with the device.
  • If the driver is not installed correctly or properly then restart the computer, sometimes restarting might be necessary if the driver requires it.
  • If your connected device is a universal serial bus (USB) device, then disconnect it and then plug it in to any different USB port. Windows should detect such kind of device and install the drivers and it will notify you if the device drivers are not properly installed.

There are many ways to update the drivers:

  1. You can download the drivers from the official website of the peripheral, as is normally done with graphics cards.
  2. You can let Windows do all the work by automatically downloading the drivers.
